American Red Cross aquatics programs have two core elements: Lifeguard Training and the Swimming & Water Safety Program.
Lifeguard Training will teach you the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. This course includes certification in First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Lifeguard Training. Training is also available for those interested in becoming Lifeguard or Water Safety Instructors.
The Swimming and Water Safety Program is a comprehensive training program that teaches people to swim and to help them be safe in or around water. The program includes swimming courses for all age groups and abilities. It also includes a variety of presentations and courses to help teach all age groups how to enjoy the water safely-and how to take effective action if an emergency does occur.
