This American Red Cross course teaches students how to reduce the risk of heart attack, recognize the symptoms of a heart attack and provide care to reduce the chance of cardiac arrest, including use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Students also learn how to care for an adult who stops breathing or is choking. Instruction includes how to give CPR to and use an AED on an adult whose heart has stopped beating and how to use the local emergency medical services (EMS) system effectively.
